Job Description

The Junior Accountant at BMG South Africa plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance Department in various accounting and financial activities. Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, the Junior Accountant assists in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and updating financial records. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Assist with preparation of stock reports, obsolescence reports and upliftment schedules.
  • Assist with the monthly actual vs budgets reports for divisions
    Assist in preparing financial reports, statements, and schedules for internal and external stakeholders. Compile data, perform analysis, and assist in ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
    Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering data, preparing schedules, and assisting in variance analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of financial plans and forecasts.
    Assist in providing documentation and support for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
    Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting the organisation.

Minimum Requirements
  • National Certificate NQ4
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is required
  • 1 -2 years experience in accounting or a finance role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of accounting software systems is a plus.
